The two adjacent houses are part of a unit of four houses built in 1924. All together they represent the first four Baumgartner houses in the city of Basel. The overall renovation respects the historic significance of the property. The eleven apartments have received a very high market value as a result of the modernization. New openings make the central space of the entrée brighter and more inviting. Thanks to new double doors between the kitchen and the living room, references and transparencies have been created, which make the entire apartment seem more open and bright. The small windows facing the terraces have been designed as doors to bring more light into the apartments.
